Frequently Asked Questions about BRIAN
How do I remove a performer from a performance?
Select the performers you want to remove from the Selected Performance Personnel list in the Performers tab of the Sessions window. Then press the delete key on your keyboard.
How do I import personnel from another session to the one I am on in the Sessions window?
In previous versions of BRIAN, there was an Import button for importing personnel to the selected performances of a session. With BRIAN 9 it is done differently. First, generate a list of sessions using the List menu. You can generate any kind of session list. It is handy to generate a list of sessions for the performer you are working on so as to minimize the list. Then, select the performances you want to import to in the Sessions window. Then, select the session to be imported from in the list and drag it to the Selected Performances Personnel list in the Sessions window. The collective personnel of the imported session will be applied to the selected performances.

How do I import performances from a session into the tracklist of the Issues window?
In previous versions of BRIAN, there was an Import From Session button
on the issues window that would be used to select a session and import
all the performances of that session to the issue. This button is
removed in version 9. There are two new ways to import performances into an issue now.
The easiest way is to display the session being imported in the Sessions window. Then, select the performances you want to import and drag them to the tracklist of the issues window. With this new way of importing performances, you no longer need to import all the performances from the session - only the ones you select from the Sessions window.
The alternate way to import performances is to generate any sessions list using the Lists menu. Then drag a session entry from that window to the track list of the Issues window. Using this method, all the performances from the selected session are imported.
How do I move a performance from one session to another session
To move a performance from one session to another, you must first generate a list of performances from the Lists menu. To generate the list, you must have a person selected in the Personnel tab of the Songs/Personnel/Labels window. Of course, you would select a person that is performing in performance you want to move. Once the person is selected, use the Lists->Personnel->All Performances of Person menu item to generate the list. Next, display the receiving session for the performance in the Sessions window. Select the performance you want to move from the generated performance list and drag it to the performance list displayed in the Sessions window.
A dialog prompt will appear to confirm the move. Press the MOVE button to confirm the move or the CANCEL button to cancel the move. Pressing the Move button will cause the performance to be moved to the session where the performance was dropped. Along with the performance, all the sidemen associated with the performance will be added to the target session. If the performance was used in an issue, that relation remains.
How do I copy tracks from one issue to another?
In previous versions of BRIAN, there was an Import From Other Issue button
on the Issues window that would be used to select an issue and import
all the tracks of that issue. This button is
removed in version 9.
The new way to import tracks from another issue is to generate any issues list using the Lists menu. Then drag an issue entry from that list window to the track list of the Issues window. Using this method, all the tracks from the selected issue are imported.
How do I change the sorting order of personnel in the Sessions window and session reports?
The sort order is determined by the order listing in the Instruments window. You can change the order to anything you like using drag and drop within the displayed list.
How can I change the sort order of formats used in sorting issues listed in the session report?
The sort order is determined by the order listed in the BRIAN Preferences window for the format popup. Go to the Preferences window and display the list of formats. Use drag and drop in the list to change the order.
